XL Group incl Freedom Flights Failure
XL Leisure Group Plc, XL Airways UK Limited, Excel Aviation Limited, Explorer House Limited, Aspire Holidays Limited, Freedom Flights Limited, Freedom Flights (Aviation) Limited, The Really Great Holiday Company plc, Medlife Hotels Limited, Travel City Flights Limited, Kosmar Villa Holidays plc have all gone into Administration having suffered as a result of volatile fuel prices and the economic downturn.
Who exactly will be affected?
The easiest way to check whether or not you will be affected by this failure is to check the flight number on your confirmation document. Only customers that have a flight number beginning with “XLA” are affected.
What should I do right now?
We are aware of the distress that this news brings and the concerns you will have for both your travel arrangements and any money paid for these flights.
We firstly ask for your patience, in order for us to manage this situation effectively. As this is such a large company failure we must prioritise bookings in order of departure.
Those customers currently “in resort” are our first priority followed by customers who are departing within 7 days.
We will be working to secure alternative travel arrangements for passengers to ensure that their time away continues. In addition, we will be working closely with the CAA for all other scenarios.
At this point, we would like to ask customers who will be travelling more than 7 days in advance to refrain from contacting us at present, in order for us to assist those customers in resort or with imminent departures. We have a full list of the bookings with these operators and will be contacting customers in due course.
